Individual Therapy Fees
Psychologists charge a variety of rates, depending on experience, practice location, and a variety of other factors. The Australian Psychological Association recommended rate for Clinical Psychology in 2021-21 is $267.00 for a 50-minute therapy session. Our psychology fees range between $245 and $267 per 50 min session. Under the Better Access to Mental Health Care Initiative, patients are entitled to a medicare rebate to cover part of the session charge for the 20 sessions they have attended in the calendar year.
A referral from a GP or other specialist doctor is only needed if you’d like to use a Medicare rebate. You may also be able to claim a private rebate for psychology services, please contact your private health fund about eligibility.
Zoom sessions are available. With a Mental Health Care Plan, you can access a Medicare rebate for these sessions. The number of sessions you need will depend on your individual circumstances. The average course is usually between 8 and 12 therapy sessions. However, a better estimate can be provided following the Initial Assessment Consultation. There is no obligation to have a full course of treatment. All clients book in on a session-by-session basis, and you can stop at any time.
